November - SecMedia takes delivery of the five component Swiss built digital optical media printing system. The film is coated with an adhesion promoter and then loaded onto automated machines that use a pressure and thermal process to transfer the image to the disc. The SecMedia system has two transfer machines that accomodate most CD and DVD sizes and shapes - full rounds, minis, hockey rinks, and rectangles.

Unlike other print systems, the digital system requires no plates, screens, or traditional set-up, making it very cost efficient on small as well as large runs. In addition to its photographic quality (600dpi), the digital technology enables the art work to be changed on each disc in a run - photos, barcodes, serial numbers, names, addresses - opening a wide range of variable data and one-to-one marketing opportunities.

August - SecMedia purchases a 30,000 square foot facility in Baltimoreís HUD empowerment zone. The single story, brick building is being renovated to include 10,000 square feet of office space, a clean room for the new digital print system, a two bay cut room housing the Companyís specialty shaped CD equipment, and both open and racked warehousing for fulfillment services and inventory.
